Australians experience high rates of overweight, obesity and chronic disease. Currently, 27.4% of children, aged 5–17 are overweight or obese. The Obesity Policy Coalition (OPC) was established with the aim of influencing change in policy and regulation to support obesity prevention, particularly in Australian children. The OPC Executive Manager, Jane Martin, highlights credible evidence of why Australia needs a 20% health levy on sugar-sweetened beverages.
